St. Mary of Celle Church, Berwyn, IL

St. Mary of Celle in Berwyn, IL is billed as a Polish parish in John Parot's book, Polish Catholics in Chicago. I would question if it ever truly achieved that status and certainly not in its early years. While founded in 1909, most of the families were Bohemian even through 1915. It is possible that some Poles may be "hidden" by non-Polish spellings. For example, Nowak may have been written as Novak. I'm not suggesting that these Novaks were actually Polish but it is an example of what I mean.
